ABOUT THE AREA
Sovico is a quiet village in Brianza, close to the beautiful town of Monza and its Palace, the famous Park and its Formula 1 circuit; only 25 minutes drive from Milan, forty minutes drive from Como and Lecco lakes, 45 minutes from the Swiss border.
Monza is a city just northeast of Milan, in northern italy. Monza Cathedral, with a 16th-century bell tower, houses the frescoed Teodolinda Chapel. The neoclassical Royal Villa of Monza, a grand estate with English landscape gardens, sits on the edge of sprawling Monza Park. Crossed by the River Lambro, this walled park also encompasses a former hunting reserve and the 1922 Autodromo Nazionale, a Formula 1 racetrack.
Monza's gorgeous Romanesque-Gothic Duomo or main church has foundations dating to about the year 600. The museum inside is wonderful, and houses the city's most famous treasure: the iron Crown, allegedly made with one of the nails from the crucifixion.
You can't miss the city's landmark, called the arengario, which is a historic structure built in the 14th century and was used as the town hall. it's worth the 2-block detour to walk over the pretty Bridge of Lions or Ponte dei Leoni, seen in the photo with the church bell tower in the background.
